A 15.36 km archipelago, over half water: a large central island, four smaller islands to the northwest, west, southwest and southeast, and many islets. Dense jungle covers most land, with farm clearings and two bare patches in the main island's north; elevation reaches 430 m. About 12,000 buildings sit in 15 towns and 87 localities, linked by 407 km of roads and causeways between some islands. There is an airstrip, and a port on the main island's northeast coast. It suits jungle infantry, amphibious and helicopter operations.
