The author says it is inspired by the Thailand–Cambodia border area. Farm plots and scrub are ringed by dense forest on all four edges. A strip of villages runs north to south through the west-centre, among 490 buildings including a military base, casino, sawmill and farm. A wide river winds from the north edge down the east side, and small ponds dot the land. About 35 km of roads link the settlements; a bare cleared patch sits south of centre. It suits infantry and light vehicle operations.
